Punjab Kings (PBKS), previously known as Kings XI Punjab, are one of the teams playing in the Indian Premier League (IPL). They have yet to win the much-coveted title, as of May 2025. They have reached the IPL final once in 2014. They endured a disappointing IPL campaign in 2024 as they finished in the ninth spot with five victories in 14 league phase outings.
Ahead of the 18th edition of the IPL, PBKS bought Shreyas Iyer in the IPL 2025 mega auction and named him the team captain. The franchise, coached by Australia icon Ricky Ponting, retained Shashank Singh and Prabhsimran Singh ahead of the IPL 2025 auction. They also retained Arshdeep Singh via Right-to-Match (RTM) during the auction. They also acquired stars such as Yuzvendra Chahal, Marcus Stoinis, Glenn Maxwell, Marco Jansen, Josh Ingis, and Lockie Ferguson among others.
Punjab Kings IPL 2025 Schedule Details
PBKS began their IPL 2025 journey with an 11-run win against Gujarat Titans (GT) at Narendra Modi Stadium on March 25. After a six-day break, they defeated Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by eight wickets in an away contest. After the political tensions between India and Pakistan lessened, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced a new schedule for the rest of the IPL 2025.
