Audino

About Audino

As a generation five Pokemon, Audino made its first appearance in the Black and White season of the anime in the episode Dreams by the Yard Full!. It was shown to be Nurse Joy’s companion instead of Chansey. Audino is a one stage evolution Pokemon, which means that it has no pre-evolutions and thus doesn’t evolve into any other Pokemon. The Pokedex states that the feelers around its ears can hear the sound of heartbeats to see how humans or Pokemon are feeling.

Appearance

Audino is a bipedal Pokemon with a pink and cream colored body, and blue eyes. At the end of Audino’s arms are two hands that end in three digits and it has ears with curled feelers that can be used as a sound radar. It is fairly short at 3 feet and 7 inches, or 1.1 meters, tall. Audino also has a mega evolution, starting from generation six, which replaces the pink, in its color palette, with white.

Audino Appearance

Behavior

Throughout the Black and White season of the anime, we see that Audino has replaced Chansey as Nurse Joy’s helper. The feelers on its ears can help it detect heartbeats which means that Audino can tell how a person is feeling by the rhythm of their heartbeat. It is also able to know when an egg might hatch.

Strengths and Weaknesses

Audino has a large health pool which makes it quite bulky and it has respectable defensive stats, but its speed and offensive stats leaves a lot to be desired. In casual play, Audino will give a boosted amount of experience to those who defeat it, which makes it a good Pokemon to encounter, but not necessarily to catch for yourself. As a monotype normal Pokemon, Audino is weak to fighting type moves, immune to ghost type moves and will resist no other types.

Best Moveset

Since Audino’s introduction in generation five, it has been ranked very low on the competitive bracket. Its use is almost exclusively limited to a support role where it can heal itself and fellow party Pokemon. After generation six, there is almost no reason not to consider Mega Audino over regular Audino as its bulk stats become far more impressive. This does mean that the held item is reserved for Audinite, but the stat boost is more than worth the slot. Consider running Wish, Protect, Heal Bell/Toxic, and Knock Off/Dazzling Gleam. Wish can be used in anticipation of an offensive move, Protect can buy you a turn, Heal Bell/Toxic are interchangeable depending on whether you want an offensive or defensive Audino. Finally, Knock Off/Dazzling Gleam can be Audino’s main source of damage.

How to Catch Audino in Pokemon Go

If you would like to obtain an Audino in Pokemon Go, there are a few ways to go about doing so. For a one stage evolution that is only a normal type, it is a rare spawn but it does appear more often near parking lots, cities, schools, parks, and anywhere that has a high population density. Unfortunately it does not seem as if Audino has appeared as a raid battle in the past and so you will need to find one in the wild. Audino has previously appeared in three different events in Pokemon Go’s history. During this time you can find Audino from 7 or 10 km eggs but otherwise, you will need to search areas near you that typically spawn normal type Pokemon.

FAQ

Is Audino Legendary?

Audino is not a legendary Pokemon. In order for a Pokemon to be classified as a legendary Pokemon, it needs to fulfill a few conditions. A legendary Pokemon cannot be bred, are typically only encountered once per game, and its catch rate needs to be one of the lowest in the game. Audino does not fulfill any of these conditions, therefore, it is not a legendary Pokemon.

Is Audino a good Pokemon?

Audino can take quite a few hits, and that is the one thing it does very well in battle. Its base stat totals are skewed towards its defensive capabilities, and its mega evolution only further enhances these defensive stats. It is not very capable in terms of offensive capabilities and thus use Audino if you need to buy time in battle.

Is Audino a rare Pokemon?

While Audino typically has a lower spawn rate than other Pokemon you can encounter, it is not that rare of a Pokemon. In fact, in Pokemon Black and White, you can encounter an Audino in any area as long as you start the encounter in rustling tall grass.

Conclusion

Congratulations, you now know just about everything there is to know about this “Hearing Pokemon”. Audino’s impact on competitive battling has been rather limited, as it is not very capable of finishing battle. It is very good at stalling strategies and a well-built Audino can buy you a lot of time as compared to various other Pokemons in the game. Save a spot on your team for Audino if you need a defensive Pokemon.
