Mickey Mantle was a professional baseball player who played for the New York Yankees from 1951 to 1968 in Major League Baseball (MLB). He hails from Spavinaw, Oklahoma, and attended Commerce High School. He played college baseball at the University of Oklahoma and made his Major League debut on April 17, 1951. In 1962, Mantle earned his only Gold Glove and helped the Yankees win the World Series. After the season, he signed a $100,000 contract.

Mantle was a seven-time World Series Champion and was nicknamed 'The Commerce Comet.' At the time of his retirement, Mickey had the highest stolen-base record in baseball history and the lowest career rate of grounding into double plays. Mickey was a 20-time MLB All-Star, a three-time American League MVP, and a four-time home run leader. Throughout his MLB career, he had scored about 536 home runs, 1509 RBIs, and had a batting average of .298. He was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1974. He passed away on August 13, 1995, at the age of 63.
