Gujarat Titans joined the Indian Premier League as one of the two new franchises ahead of the 15th edition of the tournament. The Irelia Company Pte Ltd. (CVC Capital Partners) successfully bid for the first-ever Ahmedabad-based franchise on October 25, 2021.
There were six bidders in the race to buy the 2 new teams. Irelia Company Pte Ltd. submitted the second-biggest bid worth INR 5,625 crore to buy the Ahmedabad team. RPSG Group secured the Lucknow franchise with the biggest bid.
Gujarat Titans will play their home matches at the Narendra Modi Stadium. The venue is located in Ahmedabad. It is the world’s biggest stadium, having a seating capacity of 1,32,000.
Gujarat Titans signed three players in the draft before the IPL 2022 Mega Auction. The Titans added Hardik Pandya, Shubman Gill and Rashid Khan to their squad. Later, at the IPL 2022 Mega Auction, Gujarat signed 20 players to take their squad strength to 23.

The Gujarat Titans have not unveiled their kit. Recently, they roped in Indian electric vehicle company Ather Energy as their principal sponsors.

Gujarat Titans created their new social media handles on February 9. Their first post was ‘Shubh Aarambh’ (Good Start).
As of February 17, 2022, the Titans have 204k followers on Instagram, 70.6k followers on Twitter and 43k likes on Facebook.

The Irelia Company Pte Ltd. (CVC Capital Partners) owns the Gujarat Titans team. CVC Capital Partners is a British private equity and investment advisory firm. It was founded back in 1981 and has networks in various countries across the world.
There was a controversy in the IPL after the CVC Capital Partners bought the Ahmedabad franchise. It was found out that the company has links with betting firms outside India. However, after taking legal advice, the BCCI gave clearance to the team owners.

The Gujarat Titans are yet to name a CEO. They currently have four names in their team management. Former England batter Vikram Solanki is the team’s director, while 2011 World Cup winner Ashish Nehra is the head coach. Gary Kirsten is the team’s batting coach as well as mentor. Aashish Kapoor is the spin bowling coach and talent scout.
