In 2002, Candice began her wrestling career with the Empire Wrestling Federation (EWF) until 2006. She then competed in different independent promotions like Combat Zone Wrestling (CZW), Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA), Shimmer Women Athletes, DDT Pro-Wrestling, and Pro Wrestling Guerrilla (PWG). After taking part in the inaugural Mae Young Classic in 2017, she joined WWE in early 2018 and debuted on NXT. Initially involved in feuds related to her husband Johnny Gargano, she later transitioned to a singles competitor. In 2020, she formed the villainous faction The Way with Gargano, Indi Hartwell, and Austin Theory, which disbanded the following year. Candice left the company in May 2022 but returned in September of the same year.
