Carmelo Hayes also known as Christian Brigham is an American professional wrestler, who as of now is signed with World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). Currently, Carmelo works in the SmackDown brand. He is the current NXT champion, and also the longest reigning NXT North American Champion of all time. Carmelo is one of the best professional wrestlers in the NXT, he is widely known and appreciated for his charismatic personality.
Before his journey as a WWE superstar began, Carmelo worked with many independent wrestling promotions, he made his official debut in a match against Mikey Webb at the independent promotion named Chaotic Wrestling in 2014, and he also worked for Beyond Wrestling. After a few years, he finally won the first championship of his career, which was the Chaotic Wrestling New England Championship. He also won the Chaotic Wrestling Tag Team Championship, and the Chaotic Wrestling Heavyweight Championship thus becoming a Triple Crown Champion in Chaotic Wrestling.
He joined the WWE in 2021 and signed a developmental contract with them. He made his official WWE debut in a match against Kushida for the NXT Cruiserweight Championship. His first big moment in the NXT came when he won the 2021 NXT Breakout Tournament. Carmelo won the first title of his WWE career when he defeated Isaiah Swerve Scott to win the NXT North American Championship. At the New Year's Evil, he beat Roderick Strong in a title unification match for the North American Championship and the Cruiserweight Championship. He lost his championship in a five-way ladder match at Stand & Deliver, Where Cameron Grimes became the new North American Championship. But shortly after that, he defeated Grimes at a NXT pay-per-view named In Your House, to regain the NA Championship. He lost the NA title again to Solo Sikoa. His career highlight came when he defeated Bron Breakker at NXT Stand & Deliver to become the NXT Champion.
