Welcome to another edition of the WWE daily rumor roundup. Today's edition is a bit delayed but we've still managed to stack it up with some huge rumors.
There is a considerable amount of confusion backstage with regards to Brock Lesnar's Royal Rumble opponent and two massive names have now been ruled out.
A former Heavyweight Champion is listed to return as a surprise entrant in the Royal Rumble match.
WWE has also chosen three Superstars for a big push and one of them is heavily backed by Vince McMahon.
We also have updates about the changes in the RAW announce team, more Superstars moving to NXT and a former Champion's astonishing request to Vince McMahon.
Sounds like a newsworthy lineup, doesn't it? On that note, let's take a look at the biggest rumors of the day in detail:
#9 Daniel Bryan's begged to Vince McMahon about losing WWE title to Kofi Kingston
Kofimania was inarguably one of the most well-executed feel-good storylines that have been executed in recent years.
Kofi Kingston's monumental WWE Championship win at WrestleMania 35 will be remembered for years to come, however, a lot of effort went into making that happen behind the scenes.
Sportskeeda's Tom Colohue opened up about Kofimania on the latest edition of Sportskeeda's Dropkick DiSKussions along with Korey Gunz.
Colohue revealed that Daniel Bryan was regularly seen going in and out of Vince McMahon's office and the Leader of the Yes Movement had to beg the WWE boss to allow him to lose the WWE title to Kingston.
Tom said the following:
“KofiMania was definitely a very strong one [Storyline of the Year contender]. You talk about the poetic justice that was taking the title from Daniel Bryan. From day one, the beginnings of that storyline, the gauntlet match, Daniel Bryan was in and out of Vince McMahon’s office begging to lose the title to Kofi at WrestleMania. #8 Three RAW Superstars getting pushed
As revealed by Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Drew McIntyre, Aleister Black and Erick Rowan are getting pushed on TV.
It was added that Vince McMahon is heavily behind Erick Rowan's recent push.
Drew McIntyre has always been groomed to be a future top star, however, his main roster run has been inconsistent thus far. That is, however, expected to change in 2020.
Aleister Black, as we all know, is a Paul Heyman guy backstage and the company wants him to be a top face going forward.
Regarding Erick Rowan, the former Wyatt Family member is currently in the midst of a mystery angle in which he comes out with a cage that is covered with a cloth. He has been squashing enhancement talents on RAW for the past few weeks and the storyline should progress as we head closer to thr Royal Rumble.
#7 More main roster Superstars could be sent back to NXT
On the 2019 recap edition of Sportskeeda's Dropkick DiSKussions with Tom Colohue and Korey Gunz, WWE insider Tom Colohue also spoke about the possibility of many more main roster Superstars making the trip to NXT in the future.
NXT wants to reach out to the casual viewers and getting a few established main roster talents from RAW and SmackDown would achieve that purpose.
Tom said that he certainly doesn't see someone like Roman Reigns going back to NXT, however, he gave the examples of Sami Zayn and Shinsuke Nakamura as the talents that fit the criteria.
Colohue stated:
“When it comes to who we’re going to get [moving to NXT], I definitely don’t see a Roman Reigns figure going. It’s been said to me that changes will be keeping in the spirit of NXT. I think it’ll be that underground feeling. I think we’re looking more at, for example, a Sami Zayn. Sami Zayn would be a perfect figure to come back to NXT for a year or so. #6 Brock Lesnar Royal Rumble update
Who will Brock Lesnar face at the Royal Rumble? That's the question that everyone is talking about.
In the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer revealed that Lesnar will not be facing either Cain Velasquez or Tyson Fury.
Meltzer was told that Lesnar will work the Rumble PPV, however, he has not been outrightly told if the Beast Incarnate will defend the WWE Title.
The possibility of the Royal Rumble match being contested for the WWE Championship has been ruled out.
As of this writing, Brock Lesnar will wrestle at the Royal Rumble and WrestleMania PPVs, however, the identity of his opponents is a closely guarded secret.
#5 Cain Velasquez's return
Talking about the Royal Rumble, Cain Velasquez is currently slated to return as a surprise entrant in the Royal Rumble match.
The 2-time UFC Heavyweight Champion was earlier rumored to face Lesnar at the PPV, however, that idea has been shot down.
Velasquez's last match was a non-televised bout at the WWE Supershow in Mexico City, His last televised match came at the Crown Jewel show where he lost to Brock Lesnar in a WWE Championship match.
#4 New announce team member for RAW
Samoa Joe's short yet enjoyable stint as an announcer on RAW has sadly come to an end.
The former United States Champion worked his last show as a member of the RAW commentary team on the previous episode of RAW.
Dave Meltzer revealed in the Newsletter that the WWE will reveal a new announcer to replace Joe on the next episode of RAW.
The identity of the person, however, has been kept a secret. Who will it be? Could Dio Maddin, who is reportedly training for his in-ring return, come back to join Vic Joseph and Jerry Lawler? Could it be a new face or a seasoned veteran? We will have to wait and watch.
#3 Roman Reigns to be made the top face of the company again
Yes, It's happening again. Another potential Roman Reigns coronation could be just around the corner.
Dave Meltzer explained on the Wrestling Observer Radio that he wouldn't be surprised to see Roman Reigns take on The Fiend for the Universal Championship at WrestleMania 36.
WrestlingNews.co's Paul Davis was told by his sources that the plan right now is to have Roman Reigns vs. The Fiend for the title. The match is said to be the main event from the SmackDown side.
It was also added that the company plans on pushing Roman Reigns back as the top face of the company 2020.
#2 The Usos return update
The Usos have not been seen on WWE TV since the end of July but they are finally all set to be back.
As reported by WrestleVotes, the creative team have been told to come up with the plans for the tag team's return.
Source says the creative team was recently instructed to start coming up with ideas for a return of The Usos. They are slated to remain on RAW, however, as you guys know, that means nothing.
Jimmy Uso was not found guilty of a DUI Charge and the 6-time tag Champions are now free to make their TV comebacks. The twins are recognized faces in the tag team division and WWE would need their services as the company enters the all-important WrestleMania season.
#1 Fandango to be out for 6 months
Fandango suffered an elbow injury during the recent NXT Show in a match against the Singh Brothers.
The Breezango member took to Instagram to reveal that he underwent a 'Tommy John' surgery.
Dave Meltzer provided an update in the WON stating that Fandango is expected to miss six months of in-ring action.
The recovery time after a 'Tommy John' surgery is 12-15 months for Baseball pitchers as they need the strength in their throwing arm to return.
Pro wrestlers don't need that, which means that Fandango could be back with Tyler Breeze in NXT in June next year.
