Paige VanZant is an American professional wrestler and Mixed Martial Artist. She is known for her work in UFC, AEW, and Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship. Her parents owned a dance studio and helped her train in ballet, jazz, and hip-hop.

She was bullied in her childhood and it became a major reason for her choosing Martial Arts as her career. The family moved to Nevada during her late teenage. While looking for a dance studio, she came across Ken Shamrock’s Gym and began training for Mixed Martial Arts and Boxing. She made her professional MMA debut at the age of 18 at UWF’s Tournament of Warriors and won by split decision.

The next year, she was signed by UFC in the inaugural straw-weight division. During her time as a Mixed Martial Artist, VanZant competed in a total of thirteen fights. Here, she won eight while losing five bouts. Of these eight wins, two were from knockouts while submission and decision earned her three victories each. On the other hand, she lost to submission thrice and by decision twice in her MMA career.

After her last MMA match, VanZant tried out in Bare Knuckle boxing but failed to win either of the two matches she participated in, both by decision. In September 2021, she made an appearance in AEW, attacking wrestling veteran Chris Jericho in her second appearance. After a brief tussle with Brandi Rhodes, VanZant officially signed a contract with AEW.

She feuded with Tay Conti and Sammy Guevara. At Double or Nothing 2022, VanZant made her in-ring debut teaming up with Scorpio Sky and Ethan Page to beat Frankie Kazarian, Sammy Guevara & Tay Conti. While this was her debut match, it was the last time VanZant was seen in AEW.

Paige VanZant's Early Life

Paige VanZant was born in Dundee, Oregon, USA, and experienced childhood in neighboring Sherwood, both near Portland. Her father and mother had a dance studio where she spent more than 13 years with dance forms like jazz, and hip-hop. As a youngster, she showed up in a Bissell mop advertisement. Growing up, she was a tomboy who loved outdoor activities like riding dirt bikes and fishing. In secondary school, she was harassed by some of the young girls who taunted her family name, Sletten, referring to her as "Slutton." This drove her to change her last name to VanZant, motivated by one of the dance students of her mother. This harassing experience impacted her choice to turn into an MMA fighter, providing her the capacity to protect herself.
