Alex Verdugo was chosen by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the second round of the 2014 MLB draft. By signing with them, he opted to leave behind his commitment to play collegiate baseball at Arizona State University. He made his major league debut with the Dodgers on September 1, 2017, before being traded to the Boston Red Sox in 2020 as part of a trade. Further on December 5, 2023, he was again traded to New York Yankees. During his career with the Dodgers, he earned recognition when he represented the Pacific Coast League at the Triple-A All-Star Game in 2018 and was also named to that year’s postseason all-star team.
