The Atlanta Braves are a professional baseball team based in Atlanta, Georgia, competing in Major League Baseball (MLB) as a member of the National League (NL) East Division. The franchise was founded in 1871 as the Boston Red Stockings, making it one of the oldest continuously operating professional sports teams in the United States. The team underwent several name changes before becoming the Boston Braves in 1912. In 1953, the franchise relocated to Milwaukee, becoming the Milwaukee Braves, and then moved to Atlanta in 1966, where it has remained since.
The team’s home stadium, Truist Park, has been its home ground since 2017.
