The former San Diego Padres coach played for five MLB teams during his 10-year tenure as a player such as the Detroit Tigers, Cleveland Indians, Los Angeles Dodgers, San Diego Padres, and San Francisco Giants.

Dave Robers' key stolen base was the most well-known achievement as a Boston Red Sox player at the American League Championship Series in 2004. Roberts, the left-handed batter and thrower helped the Dodgers to achieve the National League pennant and the World Series twice (2018 and 2020).

While studying at the University of California, he played baseball as an outfielder for the Bruins. Roberts earned his Bachelor's degree from there in history in 1995.
