
Giancarlo Stanton, also known as Mike Stanton, is a professional baseball player for the New York Yankees. He was born on November 8, 1989, in Panorama City, California, and began his Major League career with the Miami Marlins. In the 2007 MLB draft, Stanton was chosen by the Florida Marlins in the second round as the 76th overall selection. Instead of pursuing a college baseball career, he opted to sign with the Marlins.
Following his time in the minor leagues, Stanton debuted in MLB on June 11, 2010, playing for the Florida Marlins. He remained with them until 2017, when he was traded to the New York Yankees on December 11 of the same year. As of June 2025, Stanton has earned five selections as an MLB All-Star and received two Silver Slugger Awards in 2014 and 2017. He won the National League Hank Aaron Award and led the NL in home runs twice in 2014 and 2017. He changed his name to Giancarlo in 2012 to honor his Italian heritage.
