Enrique José Hernández González Jr., also known as Kike Hernández, is a utility player for the Los Angeles Dodgers. In the 2009 Major League Draft, Kike was signed by the Houston Astros in the sixth round, becoming the 191st overall pick. Kike made his MLB debut on July 1, 2014 and since then, he played for teams like, Houston Astros in 2014, Miami Marlins in 2014, Los Angeles Dodgers from 2015–2020 and Boston Red Sox from 2021–2023. Hernandez committed to the Los Angeles Dodgers in December 2014. In his first season, Hernandez hit .307 with a .490 slugging average in 76 games and topped MLB in average against left-handed starters with .423. He played in all positions except pitcher and catcher during his first Dodgers tenure from 2015 to 2020. He was notable in the 2017 NLCS, when he hit three home runs, including a grand slam, and had seven RBIs in Game 5 to guide the Dodgers to the World Series.
During the 2018 season, Hernandez recorded a career-high 21 home runs and pitched in a 16-inning game, becoming the first player since Babe Ruth to play infield, outfield, and allow three-plus runs as a pitcher in one game. In the 2020 playoffs, he hit a game-tying homer in Game 7 of the NLCS. Hernandez returned to play for the Dodgers in 2023 from the Red Sox. He played 126 games in 2024, hitting in all three rounds of the playoffs and guiding the team to yet another World Series championship.
