Cristobal served as the first Cuban-American head coach in Division I-A from 2007 to 2012 by taking his first head coaching position with Florida International University. After having a successful tenure as an assistant head coach and offensive line coach at Alabama, Cristobal joined Oregon in 2017 as an offensive line coach before becoming the head coach in 2018.
