The Indian Premier League is in its 10th edition and has seen some champion performers in the decade gone by. There have been just two players who have featured for one for one team and while others have moved on.

Among those who went to another team, some have really benefited. We here look at the 5 players who were most successful after they changed sides.

5.Robin Uthappa(PWI to KKR)

Robin Uthappa began his journey in the IPL with the Mumbai Indians, but the real catapult in his career came when he joined the Royal Challengers Bangalore the following year.

Although he didn't win the IPL in the two years that he was there, he provided the side with the destructive element that they needed in their batting.

In 2011, he moved to the Pune Warriors India and although the team had a poor run, he did well for himself, scoring 1103 runs in 46 matches. In 2014, he joined he joined the Kolkata Knight Riders and ever since then, has looked a different player altogether.

In the three completed seasons so far, the right-hander has amassed a minimum of 200 runs each year and even won the Orange Cap in 2014, when he made 660 runs that also earned him a comeback in the Indian setup.

During his time at the Knight Riders, Uthappa has won one title and will look to add a third this year.

4.Chris Gayle(KKR to RCB)

Chris Gayle just could not win the IPL in 10 years

The big Jamaican played for the Kolkata Knight Riders in the first three seasons of the IPL but just did not look the batsman he is known for. In 2011, a chance to play for Royal Challengers Bangalore turned his IPL career around.

In his very first game for the franchise, the 37-year-old slammed a hundred, incidentally against his former side at his former home ground to lead his new team to a thumping win.

During the course of the next six seasons with the side, the left-hander provided several thrilling moments, including the highest individual in T20 history of 175 that he smashed against the Pune Warriors India at home in 2013.

Despite his pyrotechnics, however, the team just could not win the IPL, coming close on two occasions in 2011 and 2016. The 2017 season has been a forgettable one for him and one can only hope that he gets another chance to scale new heights next year.

3.Dwayne Bravo(MI to CSK)

Bravo was superb for the Chennai Super Kings

Dwayne Bravo was picked by the Mumbai Indians in the 2008 season and went on to play for three years for the franchise. The all-rounder in the 2011 auction was bought by the Chennai Super Kings and proved to be a real asset for the side.

In his first season with the franchise, the West Indian all-rounder won the title, contributing hugely with the ball and also entertained the fans with his dancing. He continued his exploits for the next four seasons before the Gujarat Lions roped him in ahead of the 2016 season.

Mumbai Indians(2008-2010): 30 matches, 457 runs, 30 wickets

Chennai Super Kings(2011-2015): 75 matches, 982 runs, 93 wickets

2.David Warner(DD to SRH)

Warner has led from the front at the Sunrisers

The Australian opener began his career at the Delhi Daredevils, where he did create the kind of impact in the four years he spent there. However, he did learn a very important lesson in the franchise from Virender Sehwag on how to maximise his chances of getting runs in boundaries when the fielders were positioned in catching positions in slips.

In 2013, the left-hander shifted base from up north to down south and to the city of Hyderabad. In the four years that he has spent at the franchise so far, he has been the key figure as far as the batting os concerned and has also earned widespread praise for the leadership skills.

Warner’s ability to go after the bowling from the word go has meant that Sunrisers have managed to put the opposition on the backfoot in most matches and last year, his consistent performances at the top helped the franchise win their maiden title last year.

Delhi Daredevils(2009-2012): 57 Matches, 1456 runs

Sunrisers Hyderabad(2013- Present): 57 matches, 2473 runs

1.Gautam Gambhir(DD to KKR)

Gambhir has been terrific for the Knight Riders

The cricketer was one of the most consistent performers in the three years at the Daredevils, where with Virender Sehwag at the top of the order, he gave many a good start for the side.

In 2011, when the Kolkata Knight Riders decided to revamp their setup, they picked Gambhir to head their revival and what a decision it proved to be.Two titles in seven wins have meant that the side have gone from being the laughing stock in the initial years to one of the most consistent sides.

Gambhir’s captaincy skills have really been come to the forefront and Knights, under him, look good to win a third title later this year.

Kolkata Knight Riders(2011-Present): 119 matches, 3280 runs
