Today we take a look at those five players who could potentially be the next generation of superstars.

#5 Ishan Kishan

Ishan Kishan comes from the state which has produced one of the greatest Indian players to captain the Indian team. He had led the Indian U-19 team in the 2016 World Cup played in Dhaka. India ended up as the runners up of the tournament. Ishan Kishan had been scoring good runs at the domestic level for Jharkhand. He was the top scorer of Jharkhand in the 2017 Ranji season.

Last year he played for Mumbai Indians and batted at the top of the order. Everyone was impressed by his ability to hit the ball so cleanly. He played 14 matches for the Mumbai Indians and scored 275 runs with an impressive strike rate of 149.45. He is just 20 years of age now and has a long career ahead of him. Till now he has shown a lot of promise and can potentially be in the race of wicketkeepers of the Indian team once MS Dhoni calls the day.

#4 Khaleel Ahmed

This 21-year-old player from Rajasthan has recently made his debut for the Indian team. He is one of the rare good left-arm pacers in the domestic circuit. India once had quite a good number of left-arm pacers in Zaheer Khan, RP Singh, Ashish Nehra, Irfan Pathan and few others but over the last few years, there have been a very few left-arm pacers coming through the ranks. He has been highly praised by VVS Laxman and Zaheer Khan. Khaleel Ahmed was bought by IPL team Sunrisers Hyderabad for 3 Crores INR in the IPL auction for season 11.

So far, Khaleel has featured in 7 ODI matches for India and has taken 11 wickets in them. He looked quite impressive in some of those matches and with experience, he will grow as a bowler. Khaleel has an advantage of being a left-arm seamer in the side. The Indian team management has already hinted that he will be the part of 2019 World Cup squad and the team will invest on him for the long run. Let's hope that he also becomes one of the good left-arm pacers that India will give to the International stage.

#3 Prithvi Shaw

The city of Mumbai across different generations has given some great talent to the Indian cricket. Probably the two all-time greats of not only Indian cricket but also world cricket, Sachin Tendulkar and Sunil Gavaskar, come from this very city.

The latest addition to the talent pool of Mumbai cricket is Prithvi Shaw. Prithvi had been in the news at a very early age due to his performances in the school tournament where he just piled up runs. Now he is also a part of the Indian test side.

Prithvi Shaw was the captain of the U-19 World Cup winning team in 2018. Prithvi Shaw is a player who everyone is certain will make it big at the international level, and he has a very bright career ahead of him. He has shown glimpses of it when he scored the century on his test debut against West Indies. Prithvi Shaw will definitely become a superstar in the coming years.

#2 Shubman Gill

Shubman Gill is also one of those players who everyone has an eye on. The young lad from Punjab won the Man of the Series award at the U-19 World Cup in 2018. Since then he has never looked back. He has become a very important team member of the Punjab Ranji team. He is batting exceptionally well this season and is the highest run-getter for them. Last year he also made his IPL debut for the Kolkata Knight Riders but did not get ample opportunities at the top of the order. This year it is expected that he will have a much bigger role to play.

Some players also feel that he have a better technique to tackle swing bowling than Prithvi Shaw. Shubman is putting pressure on the Indian selectors to select him for the national side by his remarkable performances at the domestic level. Do keep an eye on him because in the coming days he will give us some great memories to cherish.

#1 Rishabh Pant

Rishabh Pant is growing in stature as a player every series. He is another player from that 2018 World Cup winning squad. Everyone thought that his game best suits the shorter version of the game but he has proved that he can also make important contributions when comes to test cricket.

He was the second highest run scorer for the Indian side in the recently concluded Australia India series which India won 2-1. In his short international career, he has impressed many greats of the game. Ricky Ponting in an interview compared him to the great Australian Wicket-keeper,Adam Gilchrist. His keeping skill is far from being perfect but when it comes to batting he can make into the playing XI only with his batting skills.

Everyone sees him as the next wicketkeeper of the Indian side after MS Dhoni bids goodbye to the game. He has already impressed many and let us hope he can carry forward the legacy of MS Dhoni in the future.
