Playing for Chennai Super Kings in 2013, Aussie Mike Hussey accumulated 733 runs in 17 matches at a strike rate of 129.50 and an average of 52.35. The left-hander smashed six fifties in the event. His highest score of 95 from 59 balls came against KKR in the 38th match at Chennai. Thanks to Hussey’s knock, CSK posted 200 for 3 batting first and ended up winning the contest by 14 runs. He ran out Manvinder Bisla for 92 to make another important contribution. CSK ended up runners-up, losing the final to Mumbai Indians by 23 runs. Hussey was bowled by Lasith Malinga for 1 as CSK failed to chase 149.

The aggressive Robin Uthappa amassed 660 runs turning out for KKR in the 2014 edition. He got the runs in 16 matches at a strike rate of 137.78 and at an average of 44. Uthappa scored five half-centuries in the season. His highest in 2014 was the unbeaten 83 off 51 balls against RCB at Kolkata. Batting first, his innings took KKR to 195 for 4. KKR easily won the contest by 30 runs as Sunil Narine picked up 4 for 20. Uthappa’s efforts were in a winning cause as KKR won the final, defeating KXIP by three wickets. While Uthappa managed only five in the final, Manish Pandey’s 50-ball 94 sealed the title for Kolkata Knight Riders, as they chased down 200.

2015 | 562 runs by David Warner (Sunrisers Hyderabad)

Skipper David Warner led from the front for Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2015. In 14 games, he blasted 562 runs at a strike rate of 156.54 and an average of 43.23. Warner had seven fifties to show for his efforts. The southpaw’s best of 91 came against KKR in the 19th match at Visakhapatnam. His whirlwind knock came off 55 balls and featured four sixes. Sunrisers won the match by 16 runs by the D/L method. However, despite Warner's Orange Cap, Sunrisers did not make it to the playoffs. They were sixth at the end of the league stage with seven wins from 14 matches.
