What If IPL Teams were prominent Houses of Westeros

Delhi Daredevils – House Martell

Like House Martell, Delhi Daredevils seem to have shown no interest in playing the game and for far too long have seemingly been content to quietly sit in a wheelchair observing other houses fight for the Iron Throne (IPL).

However a recent mutiny has seen the old ruler (attitude) stabbed through the heart, and a new more ambitious regime take over. These changes have seemingly had a positive impact on House Martell (DD), and for the first time in a while got involved in the fight for the Iron Throne (IPL), and made a realistic push for the playoffs.

Royal Challengers Bangalore – The Dothraki

The Dothraki (RCB) are a savage bunch overflowing with the most brutal warriors, and yet they somehow lack direction to make the most of it. They are one of the most feared fighters (teams) in all of the land and are capable of tearing apart any enemy into pieces.

However, despite all this, the Dothraki (RCB) have been content with looting and pillaging other villages (destroying other teams every now and then) and moving on, and have never taken steps towards building a great empire for themselves (winning IPL Titles).

They have found a leader who has experienced disappointments in the past, but has learnt a lot from those failures, and who finally seems ready to lead them to victory and take them to heights they deserve to be at.

Mumbai Indians – House Tyrell

Led by the cunning Lady Olenna (Nita Ambani) the wealthy House Tyrells(MI), have gradually made themselves key players of the game. Initally, only peripheral players in the game, Lady Olenna played her cards well and made the right alliances (Ricky Ponting, Jonty Rhodes, etc.) to lead her house (team) to two IPL trophies.

Much like Lady Olenna and her House, MI are good at playing the game and know when to strike, usually leaving it till late to make their move and catch everyone off-guard.

Gujarat Lions – House Lannister

The similarities between Gujarat Lions and House Lannister go beyond the Lion they both share in their sigil. The Lannisters (GL) owe their prominence a great deal to the destruction of House Targaryen (CSK), whose riches they usurped.

In Suresh Raina, Gujarat Lions have the most experienced player of IPL, much like House Lannisters for so long had Tywin Lannister’s wisdom and experience of playing the game to draw upon.

Additionally, House Lannister also have Ser Jamie (Sir Jadeja) in their ranks to call upon and also their ally Shivil Kaushik (Littlefinger … and Lots of waist and shoulder!) whose action(s) leaves rivals baffled and confused.

Sunrisers Hyderabad – The Others (White Walkers)

The Others (SRH) who were once the First Men (Deccan Chargers), are a group of ancient (Ashish Nehra) mythical creatures who have emerged from the wilderness and threaten to take over all of the Westeros. They have unconventional weapons (Mustafizur) that no one fully knows how to fight against, and are very ably led by the Night’s King (David Warner).

The Others also have the gift to take those who were seemingly dead and finished (Bhuvneshwar Kumar), and turn them into ferocious weapons. The White (orange) Army is coming!
