Prototype Starglitter | Genshin Impact- Ascension Materials, Stats, Appearence, How to Get and FAQs

Last Modified Feb 02, 2022 07:50 GMT

Prototype Starglitter is a craftable weapon that was introduced along with the release of the game. Part of the Prototype series, this weapon shares the category alongside Prototype Crescent, Prototype Amber, Prototype Rancour and Prototype Archaic. While this weapon has average Base ATK, it benefits from high energy recharge. The polearm’s passive increases normal and charged ATK damage as well, making this an all-rounder weapon which can help deal both burst and normal attack damage.

The first polearm of the Prototype series reminded Yun Hui of his father since the weapon resembled so much of the stars. It was later named the Prototype Starglitter in reference to this and revolutionized the design of a standard polearm.

Story

An ancient prototype pole weapon from Liyue's arsenal. The batch number has faded and no records exist to confirm the date of production.

The pole is made of black steel inlaid with gold. A lightning motif runs along the body, featuring streaks of lightning interspersed with stars. The addition of gold leaf gives it an exquisite finish.

By the time the monster threat was quelled, the remaining troops were few and far between, and each joined the civilian community where they were based. Though peace now prevailed, it sparked a martial arts renaissance that spread throughout the land.

Demand for all kinds of weaponry spiked, especially for superior quality items, and manufacturers could not keep pace. To find a solution, Yun Hui of the house of Yun met with master craftsman Han Wu and the two conducted intensive research behind closed doors.

By the time they emerged, both men's beards had grown by twelve inches. Their new weapon designs, "the prototypes," were finally ready to revolutionize weaponry manufacturing in Liyue. It was time to do away with the shackles of the past that plagued their craft.

The first pole built to the new specifications had a black-and-gold appearance. The spike at the tip was two inches longer than the previous standard. It was truly a deadly weapon, but one with a composed and commanding presence.

It was left to bask overnight in the moonlight. At the first light of dawn, the tip shone with the cold, piercing light of a star against the dim sky.

At this ethereal sight, Yun Hui's mind was flooded with memories of his father's glory, for his father's name made reference to the stars.[Note 1] Greatly moved, he decided to dedicate the weapon to his father's memory.

For this reason the weapon became known as "Starglitter" among later practitioners of the halberd arts in Liyue.

Trivia

  1. Prototype Starglitter was originally called Prototype Grude. This was changed in version 1.2.
  2. Prototype Starglitter is the only weapon to have energy recharge as a secondary stat among all the Prototype weapons.

FAQs

What is the Prototype Starglitter?

Prototype Starglitter is a free to play weapon which can be crafted. It has an average base ATK and high energy recharge substat.

Where can I get a Starglitter prototype?

Prototype Starglitter is only obtainable through forging. This weapon’s recipe is already unlocked when you start playing the game. To forge this weapon, talk to a Blacksmith – Wagner in Mondstat, Master Zhang in Liyue or Hajime in Liyue. You can also go to your forging station in the Serenitea Pot and craft it yourself. Upon entering the forge menu, click on Prototype Starglitter and submit 50 Crystal Chunks, 50 White Iron and 500 Mora alongside a Northlander Polearm Billet. This will start the forging of the weapon and you can claim it after it is done.

Is Prototype Starglitter or Crescent Pike better for Xiangling?

Among the two weapons, Prototype Starglitter is much better on Xiangling compared to Crescent Pike to a point where it is not even comparable. Crescent Pike provides Physical DMG Bonus, which is a dead stat of Xiangling. On the other hand, Prototype Starglitter provides massive Energy Recharge (ER) which is very important to Xiangling since her BiS artifact set, Emblem of Severed Fate, benefits from ER. Xiangling also has high burst damage cost, making it even more important to have ER to use her burst on cooldown.

Final Thoughts

Prototype Starglitter is not used by a lot of players due to its indecisive playstyle, making it very underwhelming to use. Only reason to craft a Prototype Starglitter is if you’re new to the game and have no other weapons of this type. Sometimes even 3 star weapons like White Tassel are better on characters like Hu Tao. Before crafting this weapon, make sure to do research on the characters you are building or else you might end up with a weapon you regret building.
