On July 1, 2021, games journalist Jeff Grubb of GamesBeat reported that Motive Studio was working on a Dead Space remake. He posted that the success of Capcom's remakes of Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3, as well as EA's single-player Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order (2019), played a significant role in the publisher's decision to approve the Dead Space remake.
What happens in Dead Space?
The plot revolves around engineer Isaac Clarke, a crew member of the USS Kellion, a repair ship dispatched to the USG Ishimura. This massive planetary mining spacecraft has ceased operations over Aegis VII. While investigating a distress call issued by Nicole Brennan, Isaac's girlfriend and the ship's medical officer, Necromorphs assaulted the ship's crew.
Isaac is left to fend for himself while attempting to save the remaining crew members and discover the truth behind the sinking of the Ishimura.
What is the message at the end of Dead Space?
After the credits roll in Dead Space, a message is flashed on the screen. There is something written in alien hieroglyphics and players have been quite curious to figure out the meaning behind those unknown symbols. There have been several theories regarding that message and players in the community have tried doing everything to translate it. However, some players have come up with a simple explanation that those symbols mean "Dead Space". As there are nine symbols on the message and nine alphabets in "Dead Space" with some of the symbols repeating themselves with the corresponding alphabets like "e", "a" and "d" it's likely that the message meant "Dead Space". However, these are only speculation and there has been no concrete evidence to proof this claim.
What happens in the ending of Dead Space?
Dead Space's conclusion begins in the closing seconds of Chapter 11. Isaac kills Mercer, and his hunter packs the marker aboard a shuttle and prepares to fly out of the hangar towards Aegis VII, keeping his promise to Doctor Kyne to use the feature to fight The Hive Mind. The Hive Mind, as Kyne explained earlier in the game, is a massive creature unleashed after the Ishimura dug through the surface of Aegies VII. The Hive Mind went to work immediately, murdering colonists and spreading the plague.
According to Kyne, the only way to fight the monster is to use the marker to lock it away, which becomes Isaac's aim. Isaac battles his way back to the docking area, where he plans to sail down to Aegis VII with Kyne, Daniels, and Nicole. When Daniels comes, however, he murders Kyne and flees the hangar with the marker, revealing to Isaac that she has been working for the government all along. Daniels was charged with recovering the marking from the Ishimura because her bosses wanted to conceal its presence. While disconnecting the ropes, he comes upon Daniels, who kidnaps Nicole.
Daniels informs Isaac that he has been corrupted by the marker's power and shows him a video message that confirms the truth: Nicole died before Isaac got aboard the Ishimura. This new Nicole is a delusion. The marking has been using Isaac as a puppet, projecting Nicole's form onto Doctor Cross: the scientist Isaac assisted in Hydroponics.
Realizing it is too late to stop the marking, Daniels shoots Cross and escapes the scene, hoping to steal the shuttle Isaac took to the surface. Realizing he's been manipulated, Isaac pursues Daniels back to the ship, only to be stopped by The Hive Mind, which murders Daniels and captures Isaac. Isaac defeated the Hive Mind in a hard-fought struggle, but the harm has already been done.
Isaac silently pilots the spacecraft into space and removes his helmet. When he turns around to check in the passenger seat, he discovers a dead Nicole looking back at him. It looks at him for a few moments before striking.
