About Ireland vs Afghanistan, 2018

The Afghanistan cricket team is set to travel to Ireland in August 2018 to play a T20I and ODI series against the Ireland cricket team.

The three T20I matches between the two countries will be played at the Bready Cricket Club, County Tyrone which is in Northern Ireland on the 20th, 22nd and 24th of August.

Both the nations have been playing international cricket against each other in the recent times. They last played a bilateral T20I series against each other in March 2017 at Greater Noida.

Afghanistan clean sweeped Ireland by 3-0 in the series as Rashid Khan who took 9 wickets and Mohammad Nabi scored 124 runs, becoming the top performers of the tournament.

Ireland tried hard as Stuart Thompson and Kevin O' Brien were impressive for them but Afghanistan emerged on top on every occasion.

Afghanistan will be the favourites when the series starts in August as many of their players including Mohammad Nabi, Rashid Khan and Mujeeb Ur Rahman has had enough international exposure to take on Ireland.

Just after the T20 series, the two nations will play a three match ODI series at the Civil Service Cricket Club, Belfast on the 27th, 29th and 31st of August.

Afghanistan has greatly matured as a team which can be seen in their performances internationally as they also qualified for the 2019 World Cup while Ireland could only manage two wins in the World Cup qualifiers in March 2018.
