Jasper Stubbs, a 22-year-old Australian amateur golfer, made a significant impact in 2023 with a victory at the Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship. The victory, held at the Royal Melbourne Golf Club, earned Stubbs a spot in the 2024 Masters Tournament and The Open Championship, and an exemption into the 129th Amateur Championship.


Born on December 16, 2001, Stubbs has already won two other notable amateur titles, including the 2022 Portsea Open Amateur and the 2022 New Zealand Amateur Championship. His victory at the Asia-Pacific Amateur was particularly remarkable, as he fired a closing 65 to force a playoff with China's Wenyi Ding and Sampson Zheng.


Stubbs' victory made him the third highest-ranked player to ever win the Asia-Pacific Amateur, behind Hideki Matsuyama (544) in 2011 and Tianlang Guan (490) in 2012. Known affectionately as "Stubsy," Stubbs has become a highly talked-about young talent in world golf, known for his powerful build and effortless swing, and his mental fortitude.
