Rockstar Games has announced GTA 6 — arguably its biggest title yet — only for the PlayStation 5 as well as Xbox Series X/S consoles so far. However, many may want to know if it will also run on the ROG Xbox Ally handhelds. These new consoles were unveiled at the Xbox Games Showcase held today, June 8, 2025, and already seem to have generated a lot of intrigue within the gaming community.
There is no official confirmation yet about Grand Theft Auto 6 being playable on these new handheld Xbox consoles, but we can speculate about the possibilities based on what we know right now.

Is there any possibility of GTA 6 running on the ROG Xbox Ally handheld consoles?
Xbox has just announced two brand-new handheld consoles, the ROG Xbox Ally and the ROG Xbox Ally X. They have been produced in collaboration with tech giant ASUS and will be available later this year in select markets. The former appears to be aimed at casual gamers, whereas the latter is more performance-focused.
That said, when it comes to the gaming community as a whole, many would like to know if these upcoming handhelds could run GTA 6, arguably the most anticipated video game there has ever been. As mentioned earlier, Rockstar Games has only announced the title for the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X/S so far. Not even a PC port has been announced, which, although unfortunate, is not surprising, owing to the release patterns of many previous Grand Theft Auto titles.
But what about the ROG Xbox Ally handhelds? Well, as of this writing, neither Xbox nor Rockstar has made any official announcements confirming or denying GTA 6's playability on either of the two newly-revealed devices.
However, the Xbox Wire blog about these handheld consoles states:
"Both handhelds allow players to play natively, via the cloud, or remotely with their Xbox console in another room."
Going by this statement, there might be a very slight chance that the Xbox Series X/S version of Grand Theft Auto 6 runs on an ROG Xbox Ally via the cloud or remotely, but that remains to be seen.
That said, being able to play the upcoming Rockstar title natively on either variant of the Xbox Ally seems unlikely, as the game's visual effects suggest it to be a pretty demanding title for a handheld.

For now, we will have to wait for official confirmation on the matter. The ROG Xbox Ally consoles come out later this year, and GTA 6's release is set for May 26, 2026. Readers are once again reminded that the possibility expressed in this article is only speculation.
