Davante Adams backed his teammate, Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Derek Carr, when news broke that Carr was benched as the team's starter. Adams, who played with Carr in college at Fresno State, supported him when news of his benching broke.

Adams said:

“Obviously, I don’t think anybody was excited about it in here. You know, him being one of my really good friends and the reason why I came here in the first place. I wouldn’t be here right now if he wasn’t here. I think everybody knows how I feel about him and with that said . . . Obviously, I support my guy.”

San Francisco 49ers wideout Brandon Aiyuk took to Instagram to comment on Adams' video regarding Carr. Needless to say, the response could be seen as savage given the circumstances. Below is the response by Aiyuk to Adams' video:

Prior to the Raiders' Week 17 matchup versus the 49ers, head coach Josh McDaniels announced that Jarrett Stidham would be the starting quarterback. Aiyuk rubbed the wounds of already wounded Raiders fans after the team lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 16. While Aiyuk and 49ers are riding high, Davante Adams is looking to end his first season with the Raiders.

The question is, will Adams be back with the Raiders next season after a tumultuous first season with the franchise?

Davante Adams on (and off) the field so far this season

Adams started off slow on the field this season with just 17 receptions, 189 yards, and three touchdowns in his first three games. The former Green Bay Packers star is currently tied for the lead with 12 touchdowns to go with his 88 receptions and 1,290 yards. There were lofty expectations for the Raiders this offseason due to the acquisition of Davante Adams.

However, it has been rough on the two-time All-Pro wideout as his frustrations were visibly seen earlier this season. He shoved a cameraman after the Raiders' Week 5 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs and was charged with misdemeanor assault as a result. The court date is set for Jan. 23, 2023 in a Kansas City, Missouri courtroom.

Now that Carr has been benched for the rest of the season, will Adams seek a way out of the Las Vegas Raiders? He signed a five-year, $140 million after joining the team in March. Let's see if Davante Adams can get a piece of revenge for Aiyuk's comments in Week 17 at Allegiant Stadium.
