Aaron Jones is on a new team for the first time in his career. The versatile running back spent the first seven years of his career in Green Bay but joined the Minnesota Vikings ahead of the 2024 NFL season.
Jones has helped the Vikings to an unbeaten start for the year, and he'll be looking to see how long they can extend the run. Let's take a look at his availability ahead of Week 7.

Aaron Jones' injury update
According to ESPN, Aaron Jones aims to return to practice on Thursday. The Vikings have reclassified his hip injury designation to a hamstring injury on the team's injury report.

Dr. Jesse Morse posted on X (formerly known as Twitter) about Jones' injury. He wrote:
"This is not your regular hamstring injury, as it’s likely where the hamstring attaches to the hip (hence the designation). These are rare, but when they happen, they're annoying. These are usually proximal semitendinosus injuries, usually at the tendon.
"Jones had about 10 days to heal, but these take more than that, even if they added some PRP. Let’s see if he can practice tomorrow."
As such, Jones will need to take the field in training before his team can ascertain whether he'll play on Sunday or not.
The Vikings have solid depth at the running back position just in case their RB1 is unable to pass a fitness test. There's Ty Chandler and Myles Gaskin, plus the Vikings recently acquired Cam Akers via a trade with the Houston Texans.
How has Aaron Jones performed this season?
Aaron Jones has been thoroughly impressive in the 2024-2025 NFL season. He has adapted to the Vikings offense admirably and proven to be one of the better running back trades of the season.
Jones has racked up a stat line of 71 carries, 350 rushing yards and one rushing touchdown. He has also proven to be a solid contributor in the pass-catching department, snagging 17 receptions, 167 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Jones has brought some much-needed grit and experience to the Vikings, especially after years of playing with Aaron Rodgers in Green Bay. He figures to play an even bigger role as the season reaches its midpoint.
