He was thus appointed as the head coach of the San Francisco 49ers, whom he led to three straight NFC Championship games (2011-2013). He also made a Super Bowl appearance. Jim Harbaugh was fired in 2014, after which he took over as head coach of the Michigan Wolverines, a role he still holds today.
