Darius Slayton landing spots: Top 3 teams that should target former Giants speedster

Dallas Cowboys v New York Giants
New York Giants WR Darius Slayton

Darius Slayton rebounded in a big way for the New York Giants during the 2022 NFL season. He exceeded 45 receptions and 700 receiving yards in each of his first two seasons with the team before an extremely disappointing year three. He recorded just 26 receptions for 339 yards in the 2021 NFL season but bounced back strong with 46 receptions for 724 yards in 2022.

Following his strong performance last year, Darius Slayton became an unrestricted free agent during the 2023 NFL offseason. He's reportedly been negotiating a long-term contract with the Giants, but apparently, the two sides have been unable to agree on a new deal. His future in New York appears to be in jeopardy as the 2023 NFL free agency period is officially underway.

While a new contract with the Giants is still a possibility, Slayton is reportedly weighing his options. Here are three landing spots that would make the most sense for him if he does in fact leave New York.

#1 - Atlanta Falcons

The Atlanta Falcons are in desperate need of additional help at wide receiver next to 2022 rookie Drake London. They have reportedly expressed interest in acquiring Darius Slayton and may have made him an official offer.

They currently appear to be the most likely destination for Darius Slayton if he is in fact looking to switch teams in 2023. He can provide a solid upgrade to their offense as they continue to rebuild their roster.

#2 - Kansas City Chiefs

The Kansas City Chiefs were under a committee approach to their wide receiver position during the 2022 NFL season after trading away Tyreek Hill. Their options were deep last year, but they are thinning out during the 2023 NFL offseason.

JuJu Smith-Schuster departed during the free agency period and the Chiefs are in danger of losing Mecole Hardman as well, who is currently without a contract. They could potentially pivot to Darius Slayton, giving Patrick Mahomes yet another weapon in their prolific passing game.

#3 - Tennessee Titans

Robert Woods

When the Tennessee Titans traded wide receiver AJ Brown to the Philadelphia Eagles during the 2022 NFL offseason, they created a major hole at wide receiver. Their lack of depth in the position took another hit during the 2023 NFL free agency period when they lost Robert Woods to the Houston Texans.

The Titans need to find solutions at wide receiver, making Darius Slayton a legitimate option for them. He can provide them with an instant upgrade and will immediately be one of their top options in the passing game.
