Jalen Hurts has been one of the NFL's best quarterbacks in 2024, but many might not know that. In a team that has been offensively dominated by Saquon Barkley and his thousand-yard exploits, the Philadelphia Eagles' passer has been efficient in all phases, continuing to throw for big yards and plays while maintaining the reputation created by his team's "tush push".
On Sunday, he showcased exactly that as his team routed the Los Angeles Rams 37-20 on the road to remain in contention for the top seed in the NFC. But what do his numbers tell about him and his team's bid for continued greatness?
Jalen Hurts' stats vs Rams
Below are Jalen Hurts' numbers for that game:
- Passes completed: 15 of 22
- Passing yards: 179
- Passing touchdowns: 1
- Passer rating: 108.0
- Rushing attempts: 12
- Rushing yards: 39
Those passing stats pale when compared to those of Matthew Stafford - 24 of 36 completed for 243 yards and two touchdowns. However, he was the more efficient of the two, having a slightly higher completion rate.
And his receiving room was not lacking either, despite Saquon Barkley's otherworldly dominance. AJ Brown was easily the team's best receiver, catching six passes for 109 yards and a touchdown.
Barkley himself covered 47 yards on four catches, while tight end Dallas Goedert also had four for 19. Playing in place of the injured DeVonta Smith, Jahan Dotson had a four-yard catch.
Hurts was also greatly aided by the offensive line, which allowed just one sack on him from Braden Fiske, while enabling his running back's monstrous exploits. He was also hit just once, by Michael Hoecht.
Next for Hurts and the Eagles are the visiting Baltimore Ravens a week from now. Kickoff is at 4:25 PM ET on CBS.
