In the last few years, Dan Snyder has received more media attention than any other NFL proprietor, but rarely for good reason.

The Washington Commanders' 40% ownership was purchased by Dan Snyder in 2021 from Robert Rothman, Dwight Schar, and Fred Smith after the league objected to the trio's involvement in a publicized war marked by defamatory claims and suits.

The NFL determined it was preferable to reward Snyder, who was being investigated for deviating from standard financial procedures to pay off debt, rather than having the three minority stakeholders engage in an open and formal legal dispute with their co-owner.

100 percent of the Washington Commanders football Club stakes were transferred to Snyder's family as sole owners after the 32 proprietors of NFL teams approved a 0 million debt waiver for him.

The transaction value was $875 million. The action ended a protracted and occasionally nasty legal dispute involving Snyder and his old corporate partners.

As reported by Front Office Sports, Dan Snyder reportedly paid $800 million for the Washington Commanders in 1999. With inflation taken into account, this would be equivalent to about $1.45 billion in today's valuation.

With a value of $5.6 billion and operating revenue of $130.3 million, the Commanders are the sixth-highest valuable NFL franchise, as per Forbes. Only the Chicago Bears, Los Angeles Rams, New York Giants, New England Patriots, and Dallas Cowboys are valued higher.

How many bids have Dan Snyder received for the Washington Commanders?

A new owner will ultimately acquire the Washington Commanders, and according to insiders, Dan Snyder may decide who he wants to sell to in one to three weeks.

According to numerous sources, the franchise is currently being bid for by up to four parties. According to ESPN, Josh Harris and Steve Apostolopoulos have decided to meet the $6 billion asking price, and Tilman Fertitta is still in the running despite not having taken a formal inspection of the team's premises.

Sources claim that a fourth suitor is a secret, and they did not specify who it might be.

According to the news report, Harris, the proprietor of the NBA's Philadelphia 76ers and NHL's New Jersey Devils, has assembled an entourage capable of buying the Washington Commanders. Snyder had previously claimed he'd demand $6 billion for the organization.

To buy the club, Harris has been in a bidding war with Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, Tilman Fertitta, Steve Apostolopoulos, Brian Davis, and others. It now looks like Harris is getting within striking distance of winning.
