Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are fortunate that the NFC South is football's worst division this year. If it wasn't, their 6-7 record and poor performances would doom them. As it stands, they're the division leader right now and would make the playoffs if the season ended today.

Fans have been scrambling to convince players like Julian Edelman and Rob Gronkowski to unretire and join the Buccaneers. Both these players have had tremendous success with Brady in the past.

They hope those two can save the season for Brady and the Buccaneers, but it doesn't look like that's going to happen. One former receiver of Brady's doesn't usually get mentioned in that conversation, but perhaps he should.

Danny Amendola, who spent five years with the quarterback in New England, has been out of the league since 2021. However, he has stated he'd reverse that to play alongisde his old quarterback again.

According to The Spun, Amendola wouldn't hesitate. Here's what he said on the matter:

"Absolutely. Tom’s done a lot for me and if he needs me, I’d always play for Tom."

He admitted that he isn't exactly itching to get back into the game, but that if there was a need, he would:

"I'm happy not playing. I got enough football. I played for 14 years in the NFL. Played a lot of football. My knees feel better on Monday this year watching football from the couch. But of course, if Tom called, yeah, definitely I’d have to go back if he summoned me out of retirement."

Amendola is 37, but he feels as if he has enough in the tank to possibly contribute if needed.

Why does Tom Brady need so much help this year?

Tom Brady has never really had top tier weapons to throw to. Gronkowski is arguably the best tight end of all time, but his receivers in New England were often not the best of the best.

In Tampa Bay he gets to throw to Mike Evans and Chris Godwin, with Julio Jones joining the fray this year. With those three, it's a shock that they've struggled.

The simple answer is that things just aren't working. Brady isn't the same anymore and these receivers aren't playing to the best of their abilities. The coaching has been subpar too, so there are a lot of things wrong. Unfortunately, for Brady, it seems that Edelman, Gronkowski and Amendola are not coming to the rescue.
