Jalen Hurts or Justin Fields: Who should I start in Week 11?

Jalen Hurts and Justin Fields. It's a battle of in-form quarterbacks with radically different skill sets and playing styles. On one corner is Jalen Hurts, an MVP frontrunner, the shot caller for the team with the best record in the league, and a true quarterback comeback story for the ages. But, then, there's Justin Fields, a rising star, the shot caller for one of the most disappointing franchises in the league, and a comeback tale of some sort.

So who should we start for Week 11 of the 2022 NFL season? Let's keep the answer short and precise: start Jalen Hurts in Week 11. Here's why.

Why start Jalen Hurts rather than Justin Fields?

The NFL fantasy league rewards individual performances and largely eschews team performances in several positions. One position that is primarily affected is the quarterback position. If that had not been the case, you would expect Jalen Hurts to be hands down the top fantasy quarterback in the 2022 NFL season, but he's currently third behind Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes.

However, this isn't the case in this battle between Hurts and Fields, with the former edging the latter by a slim margin.

Hurts, a star and a former Alabama and later Oklahoma State University alum, has proved that he can not only run an NFL offense but also lead them to league dominance. Hurts has been calling the shots with such intelligence all season long, and he will most certainly lead the Eagles to a playoff appearance this season. He utilizes his cannon arm, foot speed, and analytical mind, which is right up there with the greats.

On the other hand, Justin Fields is a different ball player. Fields prefers to do his talking on the ground, with the year two Pro scoring rushing touchdowns at a Lamar Jackson-like pace and ensuring that his Chicago Bears lose with a little more pride than the previous year. What Fields lacks in arm strength, he more than makes up for it on the ground, so he is ranked as the fourth-best player at his position on the fantasy rankings.

Neither player is a bad pick for the Week 11 NFL schedule, but it is advisable to use the safer option that plays for a possible Super Bowl contender. Maybe next week might be different, but one can't look beyond Jalen Hurts and his soldiers in Philly.
