Justin Jefferson is one of the best wide receivers in the NFL, and it doesn't matter who is throwing him the ball. After the Vikings lost quarterback Kirk Cousins to free agency, they drafted J.J. McCarthy with their first-round pick of the 2024 NFL Draft.
They signed veteran Sam Darnold in the offseason with a chance to compete for the starting quarterback job. McCarthy would suffer a torn meniscus, clearing the path for Darnold to assume the position instead.
In the first game of the season, Jefferson had a solid outing against the New York Giants, recording four catches for 59 yards and a touchdown. In Week 2, he had four receptions for 133 yards including a 97-yard touchdown reception against the San Francisco 49ers in the Vikings' win.

Justin Jefferson injury update: What happened to Vikings star WR?
In the Minnesota Vikings' 23-17 upset victory against the San Francisco 49ers, Justin Jefferson left the game in the third quarter.
Jefferson suffered a thigh bruise late in the third quarter, after getting leg whipped on a blocking play, and didn't return. Vikings coach Kevin O'Connell provided an update on the 25-year-old's status on Wednesday, saying that he felt good on Monday and that he's been dealing with the injury very well.
O'Connell told the reporters:
"I thought Justin handled it really well and inevitably came in feeling pretty good today in regard to what it could have been like when you get that kind of impact on a contusion."
Jefferson hasn't been ruled out of Sunday's game against the Houston Texans and is being evaluated on a day-to-day basis.
