Aaron Rodgers pays the ultimate compliment to former teammate Davante Adams

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers still has a soft spot for his former teammate Devante Adams. After spending eight years together in Green Bay, Adams swapped Wisconsin for Las Vegas.

After initially struggling to adapt to the Raiders offense and a new quarterback in Derek Carr, Adams has hit a purple patch of form lately as he has surpassed 120 receiving yards in four of his last six games.

Aaron Rodgers, who was a guest on the Pat McAfee Show in his weekly spot, isn't surprised that his former teammate is putting up huge numbers.

"Yeah, for sure. Yeah, we talk weekly. And, I mean, I'm not surprised. He's the best receiver in the league. So at some point, it's gonna happen for him. He should be the focus of every defense that he plays against."

"And it's just a matter of, you know, I think at times calling plays for him and giving him the opportunities," Rodgers added. "But if he gets his targets and he gets to run, you know, run his routes. He's gonna put up numbers no matter who’s guarding him, who's throwing it to him, who they're playing against.”

It does appear that after an adjustment period, Adams is now finally back to his best in a Raiders uniform.

Aaron Rodgers could do with Adams back in Green Bay

While Adams is on track to match or surpass his efforts from last season with still four games to go, the same can't be said for Aaron Rodgers and the Packers. Clearly, the loss of one of the best receivers in football has left a huge hole in the offense (we knew it would), but the way in which the Packers have struggled, no one saw it coming. Especially given that the reigning MVP is still under center.

With Green Bay's season still technically alive as they chase a playoff spot, for most, it's over. One could only imagine the type of team the Packers would be with Adams in the lineup.

They had three consecutive 13 win seasons when Aaron Rodgers and Adams were together, and now it appears that the receiver is winning the split up.

With both the Raiders and Packers struggling, and Adams still performing at a high level while Rodgers isn't, we wonder what the 38-year-old would give to have 17 back in Green Bay.
