The Minnesota Vikings are not trading for New Orleans Saints quarterback Derek Carr. After J.J. McCarthy suffered a torn meniscus that ruled him out for the entire season, a rumor came out that the Vikings were interested in Carr.
The report came from a fake account impersonating Scott Erickson on X, however, it is a fake account, and it got community noted saying it is a fake account and a fake report.
The community notes help fans show that it isn't true, and a Saints reporter then clarified that the report is fake, as Carr also has a no-trade clause in his contract.

Vikings QB depth chart after McCarthy injury
Following the injury to J.J. McCarthy, Sam Darnold will be the Vikings starting quarterback in 2024.
Darnold was in a quarterback competition with McCarthy, but after the injury, he will be the starter, with Nick Mullens as the backup and Jaren Hall as the third-string quarterback.
“Our football team has been and will continue to be excited about Sam Darnold and what he’s been able to bring,” head coach Kevin O’Connell said, via NBC. “Great two days of work for him this week before we continue on with our preparations for the opener.
"And I can’t wait to see Sam not only these next two days, but continue to stack some really, really good days and showing ultra comfort in our offense. [He has] really been a bright spot to go along with what J.J. McCarthy had done early on in camp as well.”
In his first preseason game, Darnold went 4-for-8 for 59 yards in limited preseason action. The Vikings signed Darnold to a one-year, $10 million contract in free agency and then drafted J.J. McCarthy 10th overall.
However, with the injury to McCarthy, Darnold is now the unquestioned starting quarterback as the former third-overall pick looks to get his career back on track.
Since being drafted in 2018 out of USC, Darnold has started 56 games, throwing for 12,064 yards, 92 touchdowns, and 63 interceptions. He spent last season as the San Francisco 49ers' primary backup.
