Could Aaron Rodgers’ Brett Favre comment come back to haunt him amid Packers' losing streak?

Could Aaron Rodgers be the Green Bay Packers' biggest problem? Although there was a time when that would have sounded completely unreasonable, it may not be any longer. Green Bay has lost five straight games and will face one of their toughest opponents of the season on Sunday when former head coach Mike McCarthy and the Dallas Cowboys come to town.

Former Packers wide receiver Greg Jennings said on "The Carton Show" on Thursday morning that Rodgers is going back on a promise that he made years ago when he was Brett Favre's backup. Jennings, who was teammates with both quarterbacks, said that Rodgers was critical of the way that Favre never took accountability for his actions. According to Jennings, the four-time MVP stated that he would never take that route.

"In my time, I was blessed to be able to play with both Aaron Rodgers and Brett Favre. Brett was one of those guys, he never, no one ever thought it was his fault. At some point, we understood Brett Favre, he's the face of the NFL blah blah blah, when I first came in.

"It grows old when you know that when you're making mistakes, are you gonna tell anybody that you're making mistakes? Or are you going to allow everyone to assume that it's just us?"

"And, you grow into those things. I recall a young Aaron Rodgers identifying that and saying that 'I'm never gonna do that.I'm not gonna be that.' Then you grow, you have success, and everyobody starts to tell you how great you are, and you forget that the guys in the locker room are your greatest accountability. Like, we don't care about how great you are. We just care about the fact that we can get this done together."

But now the 38-year-old, whose offense is struggling, is quick to point fingers at his teammates, most specifically his young wide receivers. Jennings noted that, once Rodgers became the starting quarterback and found success, he essentially forgot where he came from and has taken Favre's route of blaming others, instead of taking accountability.

Last year, Aaron Rodgers contemplated his future with the Green Bay Packers, the only team the quarterback has ever played for. He stated, at the time, that he wanted to be included in conversations with the front office about decision-making and personnel moves.

Since signing his multi-million dollar contract extension this offseason, the reigning NFL MVP has struggled. During training camp and preseason play, he faulted his young wide receivers for not making plays. Since the start of the season, he has said that the offense isn't playing well, something that everyone can see as they sit at just 3-6 on the season.

Although Rodgers won't acknowledge that he is part of the offense's issues, the Packers coaching staff may need to make that decision for him.

Earlier this week, on "The Carton Show", Greg Jennings said that with the toughest part of the Packers' schedule approaching, along with this current losing streak, a change may need to be made at the quarterback position.

"Of course. Sooner rather than later. Look at their schedule. In the next three games, you've got the Cowboys coming in this week, you've got the Titans coming in a few days later, and then you've got to go to Philly to face the Eagles. I believe, if they lose two out of these three games, which they could lose all three, it's done. You've got to see what Jordan Love can do. You've got to give him an opportunity."

Jordan Love has only made one career start since being drafted in 2020. The Packers have intended for him to be the future of the franchise but haven't had the opportunity to fully gage what he can do with the offense.

If the Packers' losing streak continues in the next few weeks and the postseason is no longer in the picture, then giving Love a chance may be a good opportunity.
