Last season, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott led the league in interceptions (15) while the team suffered a divisional round playoff loss to the 49ers.

It was the fourth playoff loss of Prescott's career as he holds a 2-4 playoff record.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has always been expressive and critical of his team and isn't afraid of publicly voicing his opinions.

Via Jon Machota of The Athletic, Jones said that the team isn't ruling out signing a veteran free agent but didn't say which position or player he was talking about.

Jones said:

“Don’t dismiss us doing something special with the right veteran free agent. Any place. I would in a New York minute if I think it fits."

Could he possibly be talking about adding a veteran free agent quarterback? He also said that Dak is what every coach dreams of and has the physical skills to win the team a Super Bowl.

Jones said:

“As one of my ex-coaches said, ‘Coaches dream of what Dak is. You see the way that team follows him? Don’t touch that.’ …He has the physical skills to do this at the level to win us a Super Bowl.”

Despite rumors and speculation via tylerpaper.com, the Cowboys are committed to Prescott. Jerry Jones said that he's strong on Dak and that the team builds around him.

He said:

“I’m very strong on Dak. We have, in my mind, a unique person, a unique football player, a unique quarterback. This whole thing reflects the upside that I feel in Dak. The fact that we’re doing this, Mike’s calling the plays, this has everything to do with the positives around Dak. It’s building around Dak.

Stephen Jones said that he sees Prescott being the team's quarterback for the next two seasons.

He added:

“The bigger thing for us is Dak is going to be our guy for, hopefully, the next 10 years. You say, ‘that’s a long time’ because he’s already played 6 of 7. But I think Dak will play that long because he takes care of himself and he’s driven to be great and we fully expect him to be here for 10 years.”

Prescott currently has two years left on his current deal. He signed a four-year $160 million deal in 2021, and has a $49 million cap hit for this season. The team is looking to possibly extend him so he has a lower cap hit this season, giving them the chance to sign more players in free agency.
