Ezekiel Elliot has been dealing with a knee injury for the last few weeks of the 2022 NFL season. The Dallas Cowboys will be pleased that their star running back is active and ready to go for their Week 13 clash against the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday Night Football. He's expected to resume his usual workload in the game.

Elliot will join Tony Pollard in the backfield and is expected to share the touches for the Cowboys offensive scheme in a nearly even split. Elliot should continue to see short-yardage work, goalline carries, and important blocking situations for quarterback Dak Prescott.

Pollard has been a specialist in creating explosive plays, including being an excellent contributor in the passing game.

Ezekiel Elliot first injured his knee in Week 7 in the Cowboys' matchup against the Detroit Lions. He was diagnosed with a sprain, avoiding a catastrophic diagnosis, but was still forced to miss time.

He sat out their Week 8 game against the Chicago Bears and Week 10 game against the Green Bay Packers. He returned to the field in Week 11 against the Minnesota Vikings, but was limited to receive just 29% of the snaps, his lowest percentage of the season.

Their Week 12 game against the New York Giants saw Ezekiel Elliot climb back up to 51% of the snaps. He appears to be getting closer to his 2022 NFL season average of right around a 60% snap share.

Elliot has chipped in with a solid 577 rushing yards entering Week 13, giving him a chance to rush for 1,000 yards this season. He has also averaged 4.1 yards per carry, which is impressive considering many of his carries have come between the tackles. The Cowboys have a perfect 7-0 record this year in games where Elliot records at least 15 carries, demonstrating his importance.
