“I will not seriously consider it” – Jerry Jones rubbishes rumors of Cowboys moving for Hall of Fame WR

Dallas Cowboys team owner Jerry Jones quickly denied any chance of his team possibly signing Hall of Fame wide receiver Terrell Owens. This all dates back to a recent rumor that Terrell Owens would be interested in returning to the game. This information reportedly came from Greg Daniel, who is Terrell Owens' longtime agent.

Owens hasn't played in a regular-season NFL game since 2010. But, word quickly started to spread this past week that the Cowboys, who have been looking for a veteran wide receiver, were interested in signing the 49-year-old Hall of Famer.

While making his weekly appearance on Dallas' 105.3 The Fan on Friday morning, Jerry Jones was asked whether he was speaking to the former NFL wide receiver about a comeback. Jerry Jones responded quickly by saying that he has never talked to him or his agent about a return. And, he even doubled-down by saying that he would never even consider signing him in the future.

“I’ve never talked to him or his agent. And I will not seriously consider it,” Jerry Jones said.

Jerry Jones said that he didn't know where the information was coming from or why his team was involved in the rumors about a possible Terrell Owens return.

When did WR Terrell Owens play for the Dallas Cowboys?

Terrell Owens was originally drafted by the San Francisco 49ers in the third round of the 1996 NFL Draft. Owens played for the San Francisco 49ers until after the 2004 season when he was traded to the Philadelphia Eagles. He played just two seasons with the Philadelphia until he was released in March 2006.

Four days later, he signed a three-year deal with the Dallas Cowboys. In 2009, he was released by the Dallas Cowboys and said that he was blindsided by Jerry Jones, who insisted that he wasn't going to be released.

After his departure from the Dallas Cowboys, he played with the Buffalo Bills and the Cincinnati Bengals. He also played one season in the Indoor Football League.

In his 15 seasons in the National Football League, he recorded 1,078 receptions for 15,934 receiving yards and 153 touchdowns. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2018, but he didn't attend the ceremony in Canton, Ohio. Unlike anyone else in league history, he held his own Hall of Fame ceremony at his alma mater, the University of Tennessee-Chatanooga.
