Ohio State wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba is one of the wide receiver entering the 2023 NFL draft. The three-year receiver could go as high as the mid-first round or the third round.

BengalYoutube, a popular Tik-Toker who makes football content, talked about Smith-Njigba as a prospect. He thinks Smith-Njigba doesn't have as much hype surrounding him due to the fact that he was in a good situation at Ohio State where he was productive.

BengalYoutube said:

“I'm gonna quickly tell you why Jaxon Smith-Njigba, the receiver from Ohio State probably doesn't have as much hype as you'd expect… The most common argument I see for JSN being receiver one in this class is the fact that he outproduced Garrett Wilson and Chris Olave in that Ohio State offense but you got to factor in the situation and why that may have happened.”

BengalYoutube continued by saying Smith-Njigba only had a lot of production due to the fact that he was a slot receiver.

He added:

“For JSN, he's lined up in the slot. He's primarily a slot-only receiver which hurts his value. He's lined up against college slot corner safeties and linebackers. He should be able to win. He's a really good route runner. He's great after the catch, but that's why he's out-producing. it's not because he's a better prospect. He's not that twitch, not that fast.”

Jaxon Smith-Njigba had a breakout 2021 season but was limited in 2022 due to a hamstring injury

Jaxon Smith-Njigba joined the Ohio State Buckeyes in 2020. He has appeared in seven games as a freshman, recording 10 catches for 49 yards and a touchdown. He added 11 yards on three carries.

As a sophomore in 2021, he had a breakout year, leading the Buckeyes in receptions (95) and yards (1,605) while scoring nine touchdowns.

He had more receptions and yards than 2021 first-round picks Chris Olave and Garrett Wilson.

In 2022, he played in just three games, recording five receptions for 43 yards and no touchdowns. He was shut down for most of the season after suffering a hamstring injury.

Nevertheless, we'll find out at the end of next month if his highly productive 2021 season makes the case for him being a first-round pick in this year's draft.
