"It was a QB who was treating his HC with zero respect" - Kyler Murray's outburst signals end of Kliff Kingsbury's reign in Arizona, claims Skip Bayless

Arizona Cardinals HC Kliff Kingsbury and QB Kyler Murray (#1)

Kyler Murray found himself yelling, not at his teammates, but at his head coach Kliff Kingsbury, on the sidelines. The exchange took place in the second quarter, as the Arizona Cardinals hosted the New Orleans Saints in Week 7.

It could be said that the Cardinals quarterback disrespected his head coach in primetime. Many people took notice of the incident, including Skip Bayless. On the Fox Sports 1 show 'Undisputed,' Bayless shared his thoughts on the exchange and the level of disrespect.

Bayless said:

"This was a huge deal because I can't remember ever seeing anything like this. It was ugly. It was a quarterback who was treating his head coach with zero respect."

Bayless added:

"If I'm upstairs, if I'm an owner or a GM, I'm watching this thinking: How much longer can this go? And in the end, trust me, the coach is going to lose, not the quarterback, because they gave him the money."

Did Kyler Murray's huge extension play a role in his outburst versus the Saints?

To Bayless' point, the Cardinals paid their franchise quarterback handsomely before the start of the 2022-2023 season. Arizona signed the former number one overall pick to a five-year, $230.5 million contract extension back in July. This keeps him with the franchise until the 2028 - 2029 season.

By comparison, Kingsbury signed a five-year extension that will keep him in Arizona through the 2027-2028 season, before the start of the season. But that doesn't mean that Kingsbury will last all five seasons of that deal.

After Arizona's 42 - 34 win over New Orleans, Murray said all is well between him and his coach.

Murray said:

“He’s real animated over there on the sidelines sometimes. 'It’s . . . ‘Calm down, we’re good. We’re going to make it right.’ We ended up scoring, so that was good, but that’s all I was saying. Just chill out.”

The win over the Saints gives the Cardinals their third win of the season as they try to stay competitive in the NFC West. We'll see if the incident will impact the relationship between Murray and Kingsbury moving forward.
