The Chicago Bears drafted Fields in the first round of the 2021 NFL draft. He took over as the starting quarterback after Andy Dalton suffered a knee injury in Week 2. During his three-season stint, the quarterback started 44 of the 50 games he played while tallying 6,674 yards and 40 TDs passing.

In March 2024, he was traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers, after which the Bears drafted Caleb Williams with the first overall pick in the 2024 NFL draft. He shared playing time with Russell Wilson and made 10 appearances with six starts in Steel City. Fields recorded 1,106 yards and five TD passes before joining the Jets for the 2025 season.

Justin Fields opens up about reason behind joining the New York Jets

In March, the quarterback had an interview with Jets reporter Ethan Greenberg. He revealed that his decision to join the franchise was because of his desire to work with head coach Aaron Glenn.

"I think, No. 1 Coach Glenn, "Fields said. "I've played against him early in my career. I know how passionate he is about the game, the way he coaches, the way his players play. So I think that was the biggest thing for me."

Aaron Glenn served four years as the defensive coordinator of the Detroit Lions. He joined the Jets in January and is looking to help them seek redemption following an underwhelming 5-12 campaign in 2024. Only time will tell if Justin Fields can help the team become a playoff contender in his debut campaign.
