Matthew Stafford's wife Kelly reflects back on brain tumor recovery five years after surgery

Matthew Stafford's wife, Kelly Stafford, recently took to Instagram to look back at her surgery recovery and journey.

Diagnosed with a benign (noncancerous) tumor, acoustic neuroma, Kelly went through surgery around five years ago. Documenting and reflecting on the process, Kelly shared a small emotional clip on Instagram.

Kelly captured vital moments from her recovery, adding Anne Wilson's song "Strong" to her montage. There were all kinds of clips and photos, with the former athlete even sharing photos of Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford and her at the hospital.

"5 years ago today. You can’t control everything in life, but you can control how you respond. I wouldn’t change it for anything, taught me more about myself than I could ever imagine and reminded me what mattered in life. Thank you, God, for it all. ❤️🙏 And thank you for putting me in the hands of Dr. Thompson," Kelly wrote in her IG caption.

Kelly seemed to have documented most of her journey, making sure to stay candid about her experience.

People poured in with their loving words, cheering on Kelly as she recapped her journey. Many commented that they also got emotional, loving her song choice and meaningful words.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield's wife, Emily, also left a like on her post.

Matthew Stafford's wife previously put an end to cancer rumors

Following her brain tumor, Kelly Stafford took to speaking about her health issues more, even sharing her fear of possibly having cancer during a stomach issue. However, she later had to clear the situation, posting a statement about not having cancer.

"There is a bunch circulating right now and want to reiterate that I DO NOT HAVE CANCER. If journalists actually took time to check facts these days, they would know this. I’m infuriated. Most the time I wouldn’t care what people wrote because it didn’t matter. THIS MATTERS," she wrote.

According to Kelly, her statement mattered as the false reports ended up taking away the issue from people who are suffering from cancer.

Matthew Stafford and Kelly continue to share parts of their lives through social media, with Kelly also working on her podcast: "The Morning After with Kelly Stafford."
