Mike Florio livid with way Rams have handled Matthew Stafford's concussion situation: "Either you are in the protocol or you aren't"

Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford suffered a concussion against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers two weeks ago. He missed the next game against the Arizona Cardinals but returned this past Sunday after he cleared the concussion protocol on Friday.

This past week against the New Orleans Saints, Stafford apparently suffered another concussion. He was taken out of the game to be evaluated but no further information was revealed after the game.

On Monday, Mike Florio said on the Pro Football Talk podcast that he doesn't understand why it took so long. Florio said that, after he was taken out of the game in the third quarter, the Rams said that he would go for more tests on Monday.

Florio was livid that a possible head injury was being taken so lightly by the Los Angeles Rams. He said that Cooper Kupp's knee injury was taken more seriously than a possible head injury. Florio said that it's easy to say whether someone is in the concussion protocol or not.

"He just came out of the concussion protocol on Friday. He exited the game in the third quarter for a concussion evaluation, and we never got an answer to whether or not he has a concussion. And, as of last night, we had no answer the team said that he will undergo tests on Monday. And he is not yet in the protocol. "
"I mentioned last night on Football Night in America, the NFL Players Association is monitoring this situation as they should given that Stafford just came out of protocol. I just don't get this. You either are in the protocol or you aren't. This isn't like an MRI on a knee where we need a day to let the swelling go downl," Mike Florio said.

Late on Monday night, Pro Football talk posted on Twitter that the Los Angeles Rams had placed Matthew Stafford back into the concussion protocol. Just days after he had been cleared to play yet again.

Will QB Matthew Stafford play this Sunday?

Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford is now in the concussion protocol for the second time in just a matter of days. The Los Angeles Rams are scheduled to play the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium this Sunday.

Considering this is Stafford's second concussion in a matter of weeks, it's likely he won't play this weekend, and that is for a few reasons. The Rams are 3-7 and in last place in the NFC West. They aren't in contention for the division title or the playoffs as they get set to enter Week 12 of the NFL season.

That may lead the Rams to be cautious with their quarterback and decide to start backup John Wolford instead against the Chiefs. Wolford started for the Rams against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 10.
