NFL Draft 2023: Bears' rumored asking price for Colts to get first overall pick revealed

The Chicago Bears have given the idea that they may be willing to part ways with the first overall pick, with the Indianapolis Colts thought to be an interested party.

Given how highly coveted the first overall pick is, the asking price, in all likelihood, is going to be quite steep. The Bears appear to be happy with quarterback Justin Fields going forward and are thus willing to trade away the first overall pick.

We have now learned what the asking price is going to be should teams want to trade up for it...and it's a rather steep one.

So, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Colts will have to part ways with two first-round picks and other picks as well just to move up three spots. Is the first overall selection worth doing that when the Colts have a pick just three selections later?

While we don't know the Colts' draft strategy and who they want to draft, if they are after a quarterback in CJ Stroud or Will Levis, then trading up to ensure they get their player is worthwhile.

However, parting with two first-round picks along with others is a steep asking price, but is one that someone will pay no doubt. Seeing as the Bears don't want the pick, it may be worthwhile trading up.

Whether Indianapolis trades up in the draft will be largely determined by who they are after. If it is a specific quarterback that general manager Chris Ballard and head coach Shane Steichen want, then the answer is likely yes.

There is also a chance that the quarterback that Indianapolis could be eyeing could fall to them at pick four as well. They could, in theory, get their man without trading away draft capital.

It promises to be a fascinating watch between now and draft day with a host of teams surely interested in getting the first overall pick.

With the asking price now known, it will separate the teams which are serious about moving up. If it's for a generational quarterback, there will likely be a few teams willing to meet the Bears' asking price if they chose to part ways with it.
