"One day Pat gonna unlock that other side" - NFL fans can't believe Patrick Mahomes' father's savage dig at Joe Burrow

Quarterback Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Cincinnati Bengals in the AFC Championship game. They are heading to their third Super Bowl in four seasons.

In the days leading up to the game, Bengals players and fans renamed the Chiefs' Arrowhead Stadium to "Burrowhead" Stadium. This was in light of the quarterback's success against the Chiefs on the road.

As Chiefs fans and players had fun making sure that Cincinnati knew it was their stadium after the game, they also took another dig at Burrow.

The Chiefs' quarterback's father, Pat Mahomes Sr., was seen lighting a cigar after the win. Smoking cigars has been one of Joe Burrow's notable ways of celebrating a big win since his days at LSU.

A video of him smoking the cigar made its rounds on Twitter, with him saying that he was "smoking a Joe Burrow." Fans couldn't believe what they were seeing and some even commented that they believe the Chiefs quarterback could one day unlock that level of 'savage.'

Others made a comparison between his reaction to the win and that of his other son Jackson (who has become notorious on social media the last few seasons). The majority of those on Twitter, though, loved the dig at Joe Burrow and requested more interviews and content in the future.

Who is Pat Mahomes Sr.?

Patrick Mahomes II has made a name for himself as an NFL MVP and Super Bowl champion. But his father, Pat Mahomes Sr., was an accomplished athlete in his own right before he was known as the Chiefs quarterback's father.

He was a right-handed pitcher who began his MLB career in the minor league system for the Minnesota Twins. He worked his way up their farm system and made his Major League debut on April 4, 1992. He played with the Twins until 1996 when he was traded to the Boston Red Sox.

He then went on to play for the Yokohama Baystars in the Japanese baseball league during the 1997 and 1998 seasons. He returned to the states in the offseason before the 1999 season and signed with the New York Mets, where he played for two campaigns. Mahomes Sr. played the 2000 MLB season with the Texas Rangers and then in 2001 played for the Chicago Cubs.

In 2003, he played for the Pittsburgh Pirates organization, splitting time between the major league team and their Triple-A Minor League Affiliate. From 2004 until 2009 he spent time in the Minor Leagues with the Los Angeles Dodgers, Kansas City Royals and Toronto Blue Jays before retiring.
