Veteran running back Leonard Fournette played just two games with the Buffalo Bills in 2023. As the 2024 NFL season approaches, the former first-round draft pick remains a free agent. However, he is scheduled to visit the Indianapolis Colts, which could potentially change his status.
On Monday morning, ESPN's NFL Insider Adam Schefter reported on X (formerly Twitter) that Leonard Fournette is visiting with the Indianapolis Colts. The Colts have Jonathan Taylor as a solid starting running back, so adding Fournette would simply be for depth.
Fans shared their opinions on X about Fournette's visit to the Indianapolis Colts. The opinions were mixed, as some fans thought the 29-year-old should just call it a career, while others simply forgot he was still playing in the National Football League.

Others commended Fournette on the early years of his career but, felt that he was no longer capable of being the running back he once was. Fournette won his first and only Super Bowl title with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2020. He then spent two more seasons with the Bucs before becoming a free agent.
"Blast from the past," one fan said.
"Just hang it up g," another fan said.
Some other fans questioned why the team would sign another running back when they needed depth at the safety position. One mentioned the Colts' desire to run the ball more this season and adding a veteran running back would help do just that. The Indianapolis Colts were reportedly interested in signing Dalvin Cook before he signed with the Dallas Cowboys last week.
"Interesting move," one fan said.
"Wouldn’t surprise me at all given how Steichen wants to rotate his RBs," another fan said.
How many 1,000 rushing yard seasons has Leonard Fournette had?
Running back Leonard Fournette was a standout at LSU before declaring for the NFL Draft in 2017. He was selected fourth overall by the Jacksonville Jaguars that same year and rushed for 1,040 yards in his rookie season. A hamstring injury deterred his second NFL season but, in 2019, he bounced back and rushed for 1,152 yards. The 2017 and 2019 NFL seasons are the only seasons he rushed for 1,000 yards.
The Jaguars decided not to use the fifth-year option on Fournette and were unable to trade him, which led to him being waived after the 2019 NFL season. He then signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, where he joined Tom Brady and won his first Lombardi Trophy.
Leonard Fournette played three seasons with Tampa Bay before being released in 2023. He then signed with the Buffalo Bills but, spent most of the season on the practice squad, he made just two starts in 2023.
