It is no secret that receiver DeAndre Hopkins' future with the Arizona Cardinals is coming to an end. After certain reports suggested that the Cardinals were "entertaining" the thought of trading Hopkins, it appears that the move might come to fruitition.

The star receiver has been at the top of his game and has developed quite the rapport with Kyler Murray. But that seems to count for little as Hopkins is set to depart.

Ari Meirov of The 33rd Team.com spoke with NFL Insider Trey Wingo, stating that there is an expectation Hopkins will be departing.

Meirov said:

"The league-wide expectation is he is going to be dealt at some point this offseason. It's a new regime in Arizona, they want to get younger, Hopkins needs a new contract as well, he has no guaranteed money left.
Everyone involved would like to get a fresh start and this one is more than likely going to happen at some point this offseason."

The receiver is clearly going to be shipped out under the new Arizona regime and just where he lands will make for interesting viewing.

Where will Hopkins play in 2023?

There are plenty of teams that could do with a star receiver, but Dallas Cowboys are closest to landing him if the grapevine is to be believed.

With Dallas making no secret of their attempts to bring in another star to help CeeDee Lamb, the Cowboys could be a viable option and with a few contract re-structures and players moving on, there is room for the move.

New England Patriots have been mentioned as a team needing a star receiver for Mac Jones, but given the fact that the quarterback's future is shaky, it seems a far fetched move.

Hopkins will likely want to go to a Super Bowl contender, so that narrows the field down. His contract will need to be taken on if a team trades for him.

He is due to make $19,450,000 in 2023 and then $14,915,000 in 2024, so that's a decent chunk.

Just who will be willing to pay that remains to be seen, with the Cowboys being the frontrunners. Will Jerry Jones pay up? We will wait and see.
