The San Francisco 49ers' offensive woes reached a new low in their 38-10 blowout loss to the Green Bay Packers. Tom Brady's breakdown exposed the team's critical failures.
During Sunday's episode of NFL on FOX, Brady dissected backup quarterback Brandon Allen's performance.
"It's just a big challenge because he hasn't played football basically in three years," Brady said. "So it's like where does that really impact the game to me it's that awareness in the pocket when those bodies are around you. He had two fumbles today and then he actually made some good throws decisive throws down the field in tough conditions.
"It's a little wet, it's a little windy, it's a little cold. And he just needed his guys to come down with some of those catches," Brady continued. "Deebo missed a couple. Christian still not quite back to where he needs to be. So this is a game where you got to lean on Deebo. Kittle did actually have a decent game. Jennings he actually had a couple good catches.
"But overall too many long fields that they had to deal with and they give up too many short fields to Green Bay. Not a recipe for success going on the road against a good team."
Brandon Allen completed 17 of 29 passes for 199 yards and one touchdown. But two critical fumbles and an interception highlighted his rust after three years away from regular gameplay.
The 49ers' offensive stats painted a grim picture. They managed just 44 rushing yards on 19 carries. Key players like Deebo Samuel and Christian McCaffrey failed to deliver their usual impact. George Kittle emerged as a rare bright spot with a decent performance.
Defensively, the 49ers crumbled. They missed 10 tackles in the first quarter alone. Without Nick Bosa, their defensive line looked completely overmatched against Josh Jacobs and Jordan Love.
Brandon Allen's 49ers see their playoff window closing
The loss dropped the 49ers to 5-6, pushing them to the bottom of the NFC West. With five of their remaining six opponents holding playoff aspirations, the road ahead looks treacherous for Brandon Allen and the 49ers.
Brady's analysis cut to the heart of the 49ers' problems. Injuries, inconsistent performance, and lack of execution have transformed a once-dominant team into a struggling outfit. The playoff window is rapidly closing for San Francisco.
