Nick Bosa’s Early Life and Background

Nick Bosa is the son of former NFL player John Bosa, who used to play for the Miami Dolphins. He was born in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and attended St. Thomas Aquinas in Lauderdale along with his brother Joey Bosa. He committed to Ohio State University as a five-star recruit. He played all 13 games in his freshman year and registered 29 tackles and 5 sacks. He became a starter for Ohio Buckeyes in his sophomore year. He underwent core-muscle surgery in his junior year and sat out the season. He foregoes his senior year at Ohio State to enter the 2019 NFL Draft. Bosa was named a unanimous First Team All-Big Ten and the Smith-Brown Big Ten Defensive Lineman of the Year, in 2017 for his 32 total tackles (14.5 for a loss) and a team-leading 7 sacks.

Who Drafted Nick Bosa?

Nick Bosa was drafted by the San Francisco 49ers in round 1 of the 2019 NFL Draft. He was the overall 2nd pick of the Draft behind quarterback Kyler Murray. Some other players from the 2019 NFL Draft class also include offensive linebacker Josh Allen, linebacker Devin White, and wide receiver A.J. Brown.

On July 25, 2019, Bosa signed a 4-year deal with the 49ers worth $33.5 million featuring a $22.5 million signing bonus and a fifth-year option. During Week 5, Bosa sacked Baker Mayfield twice, resulting in a fumble, earning him NFC Defensive Player of the Week. Nick followed it up with three sacks on Kyle Allen and recorded his first career interception the next week, earning another NFC Defensive Player of the Week while his brother Joey earned AFC Defensive Player of the Week. He was announced as the NFL Defensive Player of the Month in October the very next day. Bosa finished his rookie year with 47 tackles, nine sacks, a forced fumble, two fumble recoveries, two pass deflections, and an interception.
