Pat McAfee reveals he reached out to Aaron Rodgers after undecided Packers QB's darkness retreat

Detroit Lions v Green Bay Packers
Aaron Rodgers has been silent lately

Aaron Rodgers emerged from his darkness retreat one day early. The Green Bay Packers star was supposed to spend four days in the dark to decide on his NFL future but emerged after three.

He hasn't made a public decision or even an appearance since he emerged. No one knows what his plan is, not even Pat McAfee. McAfee reached out to Rodgers but hasn't heard back.

He said on his eponymous show:

"Aaron has come out of the darkness... the light switch is right above his head... that's a lot of willpower... Shoulder hits the light switch, it's over. Three days in, imagine you almost got to four days. That would be devastating. We don't know if that happened or not, we're not- allegedly. We would not like to be sued by any darkness retreats."

He said that he reached out and hasn't received a response. He also said that AJ Hawk had heard from the Packers star, but he was not on the show then:

"I have not heard from Aaron Rodgers since he has come out of the darkness. A lot of people were sending us tweets... I did ask, I did not get an answer. I have no idea, hope he's okay. I believe AJ [Hawk], who is on a cruise, has gotten correspondence, but the darkness might have eliminated us."

McAfee and his show became a trusted source for Rodgers' information. He routinely appeared as a guest and gave the hosts and the audience insider information, which is why so many came to McAfee for answers.

Unfortunately, McAfee doesn't have those answers. Those answers may not even exist right now, as Rodgers may not have made a clear decision.

What's next for Aaron Rodgers?

With even less clarity on what he is going to do next, the NFL world is wondering about Aaron Rodgers right now. His status is a big domino for many teams' plans in free agency.

However, there's no telling what he might do. Reports now indicate that the Packers would like him back, so it's likely either that or retirement.

Given his silence and the fact that he broke his retreat early, retirement cannot be ruled out.
